Thoughts on Leadership

In what seemed to be a prophecy, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. once told his only son Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to serve and lead the country in the best of his capacity.

In his letter to Noynoy dated August 25, 1973, almost a year after Martial Law was imposed, Ninoy lamented his incarceration and asked his son to continue his advocacies.

“The only advice I can give you: Live with honor and follow your conscience. There is no greater nation on earth than our Motherland. No greater people than our own. Serve them with all your heart, with all your might and with all your strength,” the older Aquino said.

“Son, the ball is now in your hands,” added Ninoy.

Thirty-six years later, Ninoy’s hunch proved to be true—with his only son now taking oath as the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines.

Although Ninoy and his wife, the late president Corazon Aquino (who died of cancer August 2009), did not live to see this day, the younger Aquino took his oath before his four sisters, Ballsy, Pinky, Viel, and Kris, and before millions of Filipinos who believed his promise to eradicate corruption.

‘So help me God’

With pensive thoughts and emotional turmoil regarding leadership on my workplace, I found this quote from John Maxwell enlightening.

Crazy/Beautiful Me

I am crazy.

My friends say so, my colleagues noticed. My family already knows and my hunny loves me for being so.

I guess I am not like this five years before. I have always been prim and proper with the attitude of being a bitch and a brat when the situation deems me to be one.

Sometimes I am tactless and I would want like to stick my foot on my mouth. But for most of the times, I usually say what is on my mind.

I have always been an open book. And I say what I feel as well. Which is the usual reason why I get into trouble. *wink*

Impulsive... I have always loved spur of the moment thingies as I would always love to plan and think ahead. :D

Now, I see myself being crazy - at least this is the way that I thought of the most effective way to release stress and tension aside from playing PVZ and doing yoga.

Summer Rain

Whispering our goodbyes
Waiting for a train
I was dancing with my baby
In the summer rain
I can hear him saying
Nothing will change
Come dance with me baby
In the summer rain
I remember the rain on our skin
And his kisses hotter than the Santa Ana winds
Whispering our goodbyes
Waiting for a train
I was dancing with my baby
In the summer rain
I remember laughing 'till we almost cried
There at the station that night
I remember looking in his eyes

Oh my love it's you that I dream of
Oh my love since that day
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain
Doesn't matter what I do now
Doesn't matter what I say
Somwhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

I can hear the whistle
Military train
I was dancing with my baby
In the summer rain
I can hear him singing
Ooh "Love Is Strange"
Come dance with me baby
In the summer rain
I remember the rain pouring down
And we poured our hearts out
As the train pulled out
I can see my baby
Waving from the train
It was the last time that I saw him
In the summer rain

Everytime I see the lightning
Everytime I hear the thunder
Everytime I close the window
When this happens in the summer
Oh the night is so inviting
I can feel that you are so close
I can feel you when the wind blows
Blows right through my heart

Every night and every day now
Though I know you've gone away
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

Lactose Intolerance

I think I may be lactose intolerant. Been drinking a lot of dairy products with high amount of lactose. Particularly halo-halo and just recently, the milk I bought to go with the cereal... Tried searching over the internet of the major causes and symptoms of Lactose Intolerance and here is what I have researched:

 What is lactose intolerance?

Lactose intolerance is the inability or insufficient ability to digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and milk products. Lactose intolerance is caused by a deficiency of the enzyme lactase, which is produced by the cells lining the small intestine. Lactase breaks down lactose into two simpler forms of sugar called glucose and galactose, which are then absorbed into the bloodstream.

What causes lactose intolerance?

The cause of lactose intolerance is best explained by describing how a person develops lactase deficiency.

Primary lactase deficiency develops over time and begins after about age 2 when the body begins to produce less lactase. Most children who have lactase deficiency do not experience symptoms of lactose intolerance until late adolescence or adulthood.

Researchers have identified a possible genetic link to primary lactase deficiency. Some people inherit a gene from their parents that makes it likely they will develop primary lactase deficiency. This discovery may be useful in developing future genetic tests to identify people at risk for lactose intolerance.

Secondary lactase deficiency results from injury to the small intestine that occurs with severe diarrheal illness, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, or chemotherapy. This type of lactase deficiency can occur at any age but is more common in infancy.

Who is at risk for lactose intolerance?

Lactose intolerance is a common condition that is more likely to occur in adulthood, with a higher incidence in older adults. Some ethnic and racial populations are more affected than others, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, and Asian Americans. The condition is least common among Americans of northern European descent.

Infants born prematurely are more likely to have lactase deficiency because an infant’s lactase levels do not increase until the third trimester of pregnancy.

What are the symptoms of lactose intolerance?

People with lactose intolerance may feel uncomfortable 30 minutes to 2 hours after consuming milk and milk products. Symptoms range from mild to severe, based on the amount of lactose consumed and the amount a person can tolerate.

Common symptoms include

    * abdominal pain
    * abdominal bloating
    * gas
    * diarrhea
    * nausea

Maybe I am just trying to look for a reason as to why I am feeling quite nauseated the past few days.. But I'd try to avoid milk for a week and see if my condition will improve. Or else, I might need to visit the doctor. Maybe it is just the heat as well. I am a warm-blooded person. How I loved jacuzzi and warm baths.. But how I hate it when the temperature is so high! It makes me dizzy and icky because of constant perspiration.

Oh well, guess I still have to be thankful for the sun. Unlike some people who does not even see it at all. Like in Alaska.. But at least they have Northern lights..

iPlay

Given my current irritation with some people right now.. And in as much as I would like to name them, it seemed useless to waste my time in recognizing their best efforts to be such pain in the asses.. I play to de-stress. I remember Hunny bringing me to Timezone to play and unwind. And that seemed like a very stimulating way to channel my anger or any negative feeling I have.

Though we seldom do that anymore because it is expensive, we have the Nintendo Wii and the NDS.. I also got the addicting Plants vs. Zombies game for my lappie. The no-need to install version.. (Yipee!).

So whenever I am stressed, I play. And instead of naming those who-must-not-be-named, I think of them as zombies that I need to eliminate- After all, that is the only way for me to get even and still remain professional.

In search for the perfect weekender bag

Seen this at multiply.. and how I covet it.
Thought I have seen a chic weekender bag at Bayo last Sunday for the same price.
Can I just have both??
Choices.. choices..

Q for Quality

When I started "accidentally" in the CRM business, I was very naive but later on I desired of becoming a part of the training team. Maybe because I got so used to talking to people, helping them and teaching kids at Sunday School during my younger days.

Though as time goes by, even when my Blar kept pushing me and my team mates to apply for a higher post, the idea of being a manager or a TL as they so call it did not appeal to me. She always make fun of me and telling me that I just don't want to have a headache bcoz of having a hard time managing people.

Seriously, I like motivating people. Sharing ideas, talking to them BUT  don't like my stats/performance be affected on how they act. Maybe it is a little bit of selfishness in me but I never really thought that I'd cut the post. Even if I know that I'd get it if I apply. I never did.

Now, I belong to the Quality Team since 2005. from 3 different companies and different accounts. And I must say even if I desperately tried to get away from this kind of work and tried pursuing HR, I stil came back.
Hm, maybe because the salary is way much better. Or maybe I had no choice at that time. But this field just fits. I enjoy my work. I am always questioning the rules to do check and balance. I don't mind if it is tedious. Trying to be above others to make sure I know what I need to know. (because the title demands so).

But oh how I hate people who are defensive, egotistic and STUPID. It is way much better to talk to a person who admits he is wrong than to discuss things with someone who feels that he is always right.

It is frustrating to repeat the same things. And boring to just go through the same process. Can't you just shut up?
