Asus Eee PC 1215T Seashell

With plans in moving to Singapore by the 3rd quarter of this year, thoughts of getting a lappie came across my mind. I have already made Hunny aware of this idea though I am still not 100% sure if I am going to puch through with it. I don't want it to add up to our money concerns. We are seriously trying to save up for the wedding.

Anyway, when we went to SM yesterday morning, we checked mini-notebooks and notebook pricess and compare so as to have an idea. Here is one good lappie we have seen:

Asus Eee PC 1215T Seashell

ASUS WebStorage
In addition to the 320GB HDD storage, the netbook also comes with a 60 day trial of unlimited ASUS WebStorage.**  ASUS WebStorage syncs, shares, and stores files to a secured Internet database. Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Loved this poem. Nearly memorized it. This is where my sister's name was taken from. Desiderata in Latin means "desired things". For me, this simple list is a secret to a simple, happy and serene living. It talks about the reality of things - that bad exists and negativity surrounds every person. But it still depends upon a person's reactions that will dictate his/her destiny. Living is a choice. Every step/move one makes is a choice. And with this freewill, God has given us the opportunity of being happy or sad.

Dexter & Jimmy Neutron in One

My baby brother passed his entrance exam! Woot! Woot!

omedetou gozaimasu!
you really make us proud.

Bon-Bon

The name bonbon (or bon-bon) refers to any of several types of sweets, especially small candies enrobed in chocolate.

The first reports of bonbons come from the 17th century, when they were made at the French royal court. Their name arose from infantile reduplication of the word bon, meaning 'good'. In modern French, the term simply refers to any type of small candy.

Such a weird name to use for a dog. Well, my dad said he dreamed of having a dog whose name was Bon-bon. So there you go.. poor thing.

And here he is. I seriously am not caring if he has a breed or not. But it would be great if he is somewhat dachshund. Hehe

On Dream and Madness!

On Dreams:
I am still amazed on how God speak to me in dreams. Yes, in dreams. This has always been, and I think, will always be my gift from the Almighty. I think it was two or three weeks ago that I dreamt of Hunny’s mom being mad at me because if something. Whatever the reason was, I was unable to catch it but in my dream, I was dumbfounded because I did not do anything for her to be mad.
Last Sunday, I dreamt again - of Hunny’s family. I can’t remember what it was about but that was the first time that I dream of them.

On Madness:
I have never felt so insulted in my life. And it is all because of a freaking swimsuit? It would have been better if I really did something wrong or said something. That itself makes me even more furious.

When I heard him over the phone relaying what they said, I was so mad that I almost cried. I got a grip of myself with thoughts that they are NPR worth my tears. Yes, my pride have been bruised. And since this is not the first time, I guess I should not be taken aback. What else can I expect from you? Sadly, I realized from them?

I was raised to respect the elderly. May it have connection to me or not. But I guess respect is earned as well. After a little too many encounters, nobody can't blame me for not saving any for you. Because you are so not worth it.
Am I that stupid to ask a guy to buy me swimsuits? I have had many guy friends but never in my life had I asked for a favor as intimate as that. I may have been pissed off and sad because the one I was supposed to get was given to another. That may have been the reason why Hunny asked his cousin if we can make pasabay.. But was I not the one who thought to order online so it would not be too much of a burden? I was still hesitant even for now. Twas only the other day that I learned from Hunny that he already mentioned it to his cousin.

I think this whole scenario is pathetic and stupid. All because people don't know how to keep their hands off other people's lives! Besides, if your make-up stories are true, what is it to you? Eh hindi naman ako syo nagpapabili?

See, this is why I stay away from you. Because you are always up to no good. Because you always think that people have to think highly of you and your so-called graces. Bah! Such mockery.

Six hours later:

I am really pissed off as I type away the feelings bubbling inside me this afternoon. Now, though I am editing and adding up a few more lines, I decided not to remove anything from the original post. It would defeat the purpose of me having a blog anyway. Though I am still mad, I am still trying to understand and justify their reaction. Though I would never completely comprehend on why they decided to speak ill of me before even confirming things if they are really true. Headache was what I have gotten of thinking things through. I will be trying to focus on more important things though – like the leap of job hunting and staying at Singapore by May. I am actually looking forward to it. Pleasant thoughts and always moving forward.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Winning the Battle of the Bulge

Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Resolution

A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit.
~Author Unknown

"This New Year's resolution makes me feel like we're enlisting in WWII," Ed remarked as we sat in the car waiting for our noon meeting and our second tour of duty with a structured weight loss program.

"Honey, it's not like we're facing a firing squad," I said, although I couldn't help but be amused by his flair for the dramatic.

"Maybe after a few weight loss meetings we'll get back into the swing of dieting," I said, attempting to look at the bright side of our on-going Battle of the Bulge. Ed didn't reply. He heaved a weary sigh thinking of the challenge that lay ahead for us.

I knew where Ed was coming from. Losing weight is a struggle I've faced since I was a teenager. Counting calories and watching my daily intake had become second nature to me by the time I was in my early twenties.

On the flip side, my husband, Ed, didn't start having a weight problem until he reached his mid-forties. Active and naturally slender, he never had to concern himself with the caloric difference between a pound of peanut butter fudge and a pound of celery sticks. In some ways, I feel worse for him than I do for myself. Along with being familiar with caloric values, I altered my eating habits when I was young, while Ed had to change deep-rooted habits with little knowledge of how to make wise food choices.

When we were still living in Seattle, Ed lost fifty-six pounds and I lost eighteen while attending regular weight loss meetings. Our weight didn't just disappear; we fought with great determination to re-shape our bodies and improve our overall health. What a rewarding feeling to know we had faced the enemy and won! We'd mastered the Battle of the Bulge, and amazingly we'd done it by following a program that didn't include ice cream as one of the major food groups.

We earned our Good Conduct medals during our WWI tour, but not without hard battles. At the first meeting, our fellow comrades let us know that munching on macadamia nuts during the meeting was not acceptable, and moreover, not offering to share was behavior unbecoming to the weight loss club.

A few weeks later, forgetting the earlier skirmish over the macadamia incident, Ed stood up after a particularly rousing weight loss meeting, and asked, "How about we all go for Mexican food after the meeting?" Everyone in the room joined us.

The following week the Drill Sergeant, AKA the red-faced weight loss instructor, took us aside and pointed out the potential physical dangers of mentioning any kind of forbidden food in a room full of club members who aren't related to Twiggy. She was clearly very perturbed with us.

Soon after losing the weight in Seattle, our lives took a turn, and we made a major move to the Southwest. With a new job and a new home in the Land of Enchantment, success was felt on all fronts, except for one very important one... the scales. Time and our weight had marched on, and the scales said we were in a downward spiral to defeat.

We rationalized that the disruption of the move was the reason for our expanding girth.

But the truth is we had grazed our way 1,900 miles south, by treating ourselves at some of the most decadent ice cream shops America had to offer.

So, after months of putting off the inevitable, we had no choice but to re-enlist for WWII. We are much wiser now that we've re-upped for a second tour of duty, and we want to do everything just right.

Our desire to reduce during this second tour has prompted us to seek out and experiment with new and alternative foods. Our kitchen table is a war planning zone for charting the calories we've eaten and those we've yet to consume. Our goals in meeting the enemy head-on include searches for recipes promising low fat, low sugar and low calories.

We've been studying our weight loss books. I've pulled out my low everything recipes and removed from the refrigerator and cupboards the foods that could be toxic to the mission. We've enlisted our dachshund, Leon, to join the program. I've even removed the clothes hangers from the treadmill so it's ready to go into action 24/7.

We feel WWII and the Battle of the Bulge can be won again. The pounds are slowly melting from our bodies, and morale among the troops seems to be sustaining itself. But will our spirits remain high with Ed and me celebrating our successes after the meetings by rushing out to dine on Mexican food?

Losing weight is a treacherous lifelong war; some days we limp into battle and other days we march to victory. However, every day we're thankful for New Year's resolutions that will keep us from being drafted to serve in WWIII.

Singapore Sojourn - Your Singapore

YourSingapore.com

I found this site very enlightening and so to speak, informative. And like what I have said on my previous post, I owe the success of our trip to this site. Without it, we would have remained naive about the places to go and the to do's before and during the trip.

I highly recommend it to all tourists. I hope this will help them as it has helped us.. (hunny and me).

Unpredictable Me

Geminis are quick, clever, impulsive, restless, changeable and highly intellectual. They crave novelty and variety, and grow bored easily.
Gemini is a Mutable Air sign, ruled by Mercury.  As the third sign in the zodiac, Gemini is an energetic, charismatic, communicative, witty individual  with a child-like fascination with the world and with new experiences.

The Gemini personality stands out as the zodiac sign that knows something  about just about everything, making them good conversationalists and interesting acquaintances.  They are inquisitive and quick to digest new information and ideas.  Intelligent and logical, but with a lot of nervous energy, Gemini likes to keep busy and expand their horizons whenever opportunities arise, often multitasking between several interests.  However, as the sign of the Twins, there is a dual aspect  to the Gemini personality, making it difficult for these individuals to stick with any one thing in order to master it, and often making it difficult for bystanders to figure out which side their Gemini friend is really on.   Gemini has more than one personality, which can change in a flash, and those near to them would do well to learn them both.
On and off, up and down, back and forth, black and white, day and night, ying and yang - this is the essence of the Gemini personality.
Communicative and Sociable
Gemini is the chatterbox of the zodiac, making a lot of phone calls, writing a lot of emails and visiting many different people over the course of a day. Most have a diverse collection of friends to satisfy the many sides of their ever-shifting intellects.

If Geminis find themselves in dull situations or among people who are not doing anything interesting, they are liable to stir the pot and get something going, just to amuse themselves. Geminis will often play with people for fun, though this is usually done in a light-hearted and non-malicious way.

Powers of Persuasion
Some Geminis tell lies or half-truths regularly in order to make life easier. They can talk themselves into or out of anything. As a result, Geminis tend to do well in sales and other jobs where they have the opportunity to interact with the public. A few become scam artists because they have a natural talent for manipulating people. However, the majority of Geminis put their considerable communication and persuasion skills to better use, attaining success in communications and media-related industries or writing for profit or personal enjoyment.

Careless and Accident-Prone
Geminis are not particularly cautious and tend to rush into things. As a result, many are accident-prone. Accidents usually involve the areas ruled by Gemini—the shoulders, hands, arms and fingers. Geminis never want to miss anything, so they often deprive their bodies of sleep or even food. As a result, they can suffer from nervous exhaustion or malnutrition.

Geminis tend to be careless with their possessions and lose small handheld items. They are also careless with their cash, unless the ascendant is in one of the more cautious signs of the zodiac. Geminis may end up broke or in debt if they do not guard against the tendency to squander their money.

Fun, Cheerful and Open-Minded
Most Geminis are friendly, upbeat and extroverted, unless the ascendant falls in a more brooding sign. They love to meet new people and crave social situations and novel intellectual stimulation. They don’t like to be alone and prefer to go out, interact and flirt. Geminis are fun, open-minded companions, experimental and always willing to try new things. Most are very nonjudgmental, and so people can relax and be themselves around a Gemini companion.

Need for Variety
Geminis have a tendency to flit from one thing to another, and even from one career to another, never settling for long on any given activity. They do better in jobs that require a wide variety of tasks and provide opportunities for socializing. Many Geminis choose to work at several different part-time jobs rather than committing to one full-time occupation in order to indulge the need for diverse mental stimulation.

Progressive and Quick to Learn

Geminis are often style-conscious and follow the current fads. They love modern gadgets and are usually good with technology, at least with those technologies that facilitate communication and information transfer. Although they are quick to learn the basics of any new skill, if Geminis become bored, they quickly lose interest, move on, and get nothing done.

Curious and Impulsive
Geminis are very curious. They are the sorts of people who will take things apart to see how they work. Driven by whims and impulses, Gemini behavior is often erratic and unpredictable, and in some cases, nervous and hyperactive. This can lead them to make impulsive decisions without considering the consequences, or make sweeping life changes just to see what will happen.
Generous but Unreliable

Geminis are usually generous and helpful when they are available, though they may be unreliable about showing up on time, if at all, unless the ascendant falls in an earth sign. Their generosity causes them to loan money to friends without thinking twice about it or give their time to help a friend in need. They aren’t always sensitive to the feelings of others (unless the moon or ascendant is located in a water sign). However, given their propensity for generosity, many people are willing to overlook bit of “flakiness” or insensitivity.

Multitalented

Versatility ensures that Geminis are always able to make a living, as they have many different skills to fall back on. What they don’t know, they can usually bluff their way through. Many Geminis have a talent for handcrafts, which manifests as the ability to make or repair things, as well as other occupations that require good hand-eye coordination. Additionally, because they are open to new technologies and quick to pick up new skills, many are good with computers and gadgets.

Gemini is a sign that is prone to extremes, with most expressing either the positive or the negative side of the Gemini persona. Those who express the ugly side of Gemini are unreliable, superficial, fickle, deceptive, flighty, whiny, self-absorbed and gossipy, while those who express the positive side are charming, generous, witty, logical, adaptable, talented, friendly, open-minded and playful. Whether the positive side or the negative side will be expressed depends on other elements in the zodiac, such as the ascendant and moon sign.

Gemini in any relationship is smart, witty, fast, and fun.  They are the life of the party and have a lot of acquaintances. They seek out others who are smart and adventuresome, and will become quickly bored with those who are homebodies or content with the status quo.  Gemini wants to see the world, experience everything, and literally "learn something new every day."  He will be a fun and fascinating companion, but some may see him as superficial and "two faced" because his goal is to charm everyone all of the time.  On good days, he will be charming and gracious, but on bad days he can be moody and even cruel.  Remember, with Gemini, the by-word is "changeable," so learn to expect anything!

Nails and Hair Bonding with Chi

My hair has always been straight.
Never been treated, colored and the sorts until I was in college.
I usually dye it brown though I really did not see any difference since my original hair color is not black. Black brown maybe.
Anyway, I accompanied Chi yesterday in the salon because she wanted it to be treated with L'oreal Xtenso. We had our nails done as well and I was the one who picked the colors at Face Shop the other night. Less sleep for Chi for two consecutive nights and me with no sleep since I woke up 7PM the night before, we were both happy to leave the salon by 4 in the afternoon. We started 10:30 and waited for the stylist for almost an hour. Twas worth it I believe. Had my hair half/semi-rebonded and requested for a purple cellophane as always. Went home, ate late lunch and slept for eleven hours. Oh what a day!

Pay Day Thought

Our profession is not what brings home our paycheck.
Our profession is what we were put on earth to do.
With such passion and such intensity that it becomes spiritual in calling...
Our talent is God's gift to us.

What we do with it is our gift back to God
Seen this post from a colleague. A 6 Sigma Black Belt.
Most of the times, God reminds us in the simplest way, subtle ways.

 Victoria's Secret Wristlet
Definitely not to girly for me! Love this and used only when necessary. I am pretty sure that with all the ID's and cards I have, it would not fit in here.

Secret Garden Collection - Limited Edition Scents
These three were pasalabong from my cousin in Texas.

These two were bought during summer. I still have them! I will be getting the third one again on Monday! Yipee! I believe that I have blogged about this before but since there were different delays I was unable to receive it last year. Anyway, as the saying goes, good things comes to those who wait. Now I have another motivation to run and do yoga.

Ultra-sexy and perfect for carrying everything you need. In travel-ready nylon with pebble-finish trim, gold-tone hardware and a metallic logo plaque. Use the two exterior side pockets to stash a cell phone, lip gloss or other small must-haves. This bag was envied by many. And I got it online for half the price! A great bargain and a fair deal. My lappie fits on it!

My latest acquired VS bag is red and big. Definitely eye-catching and I love it! Pricey but worth it.

Bucket List: Sundown Marathon

Ate Tina told me about this on chat. Hunny and I are eager to join runs since last year but unfortunately, due to a disastrous postponements of the Takbluehan, we never get to be a part of one. Though this year, I am keeping all my options open for events where we can participate in. With that in mind, I will informing Chi and Ela too since they recently bought running shoes as part of trying to be fit for 2011.

I hope Hunny and I get to join this on May. So excited.

Beatles RockBand

My parents both loved music. And unlike any other kids, me and my siblings grew up familiar with songs from Bread, Abba and so on. One of our favorite bands of course is the Beatles. I remember watching their music videos after lunch during Saturday at TV5.

Last Christmas, my original plan was to give Hunny the Rockband: Beatles Edition. I practically called almost all toy stores around the Metro scouting for prices and joined forums to check where I can buy a set that is worthy of the price. I was able to see the last stock for a store in Eastwood. I tried to reserve it but they mentioned that they only accept 2 days reservations. Twas a month before Christmas and I was still saving up for it. So I told myself that if it is meant for me, it will be for me.

Two days before I checked it again, it was bought by another customer. And yes, I was very disappointed. I tried looking for other RockBand sets, but I had not bought any since I originally want the Beatles. Plus when I asked Hunny to choose between Guitar Hero or Guitar Hero (the only available sets) he asked me not to buy it any more because we have to save up.

Sigh! Now, as I listen to songs like "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", "She Loves You", "A Hard Days Night" and "All My Loving" I wished that that set was for my Hunny. He would have been happy. I even planned to take a vid as he opens his gift. I anticipated twinkling eyes and a big grin on his face that never fails to make me crazy in love with him.

Oh well, there is still next time!

The Art Of A Good Marriage

I want a wedding ring like this!

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created. In marriage the little things are the big things. It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry. It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years. It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives. It is standing together facing the world. It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy. It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other. It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget. It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old. It is a common search for the good and the beautiful. It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal. It is not only marrying the right partner; it is being the right partner.

A Thing or Two About Fitness

Committing to be fit for 2011.

It was that fateful day of January 15, 2010 when Hunny and I checked out Fitness First in Megamall. We were just supposed to check it out - the place, the fees and their facilities. We ended up signing up for a year contract with them. After that, we got addicted somehow to the idea of working out. We usually spend 3 days a week. I joined the Body Balance classes sometime in March and I loved it!

Our membership is only until the end of the month and here is a summary of of Fitness First experience:
  • The membership will cost you. High rates. Plus they require a credit card if you want to join. Link it on your card so that the fee will be directly charged every first of the month. And if you don't have a credit card, they will ask if you have a family member or friend who has one from whom you can borrow. This is supposed to be a big no-no. Why would you let someone link your card for a year for a payment of something you yourself will not be using?
  • Most of the facilities are broken. There are only a few locations where there are usable and clean facilities. Hunny and I signed up for the passport membership so we usually go the their Eastwood site since it is just a few blocks away from my office.
  •  There was a time that they tied up with Citibank and allowed agents to offer a credit card membership for Mercury Drug Citi. If you do so, you get 25% off your monthly fee. Thought Hunny already have a Citi Card, we thought it was a good deal since that would mean almost a thousand off for both of us. So he applied for one. Twas only when we received the card and requested to have it linked when we learned that it is only for new members of FF. I had to speak and argue with their front office manager since they did not clarify it not did they set proper expectations. I was very disappointed with them because of that. To settle, they allowed to take of 25% on Hunny's fee only because he was the only who applied for the card.
  • No free parking. This was one of the major concerns of all members. We had to pay extra for the parking at a nearby mall which costs around 60-70 pesos for a 3-4hours stay at the gym.
  • If there are Personal Trainers that are snobs, there are also ones who were over-friendly. Their sole purpose is to get you to sign up for personal training sessions. They will follow you around like a dog, talk to you and will keep on reminding you that you can get the body figure you wanted with their help. Good thing Hun listened to me when I said no to them. With all the facilities, one can do it (achieve one's weight goal and figure) even without their help.

Here is an article from Sparkspeople about choosing the right fitness center:

8 Things to Consider When Choosing a Gym
A Checklist for Fitness Facilities
-- By Liz Noelcke, Staff Writer

When you’re eager to try a new restaurant, you might ask your friends for recommendations, read a good review, or check out the menu before you spend your money and time there. If you enjoy your first meal, you’ll return again and again, but if your experience is less than great, that first visit will also be your last.

Finding the right gym is a lot like finding new restaurant. A good gym will fit your own unique personality, and motivate you to come back and exercise on a regular basis. Unlike a restaurant, joining a gym is a large financial commitment, so it’s even more important that you research your options before signing on the dotted line.

When considering a particular gym, set up a tour and bring a list of questions you want answered. Try to set up this tour during the time you usually exercise. More often than not, the staff will give you a free day pass so you can try out the equipment, classes, and other amenities firsthand.

Other than a free workout, there are key criteria to consider before you fork over the dough or sign a long-term contract. Keep these questions in mind as you begin your search.

1. Location, Location, Location
If you choose a gym on the other side of town, will you really make it there consistently to work out? Often, a gym located somewhere between your home and office (or school) is best. On days when you’re crunched for time, having a gym close by will make things easier on your hectic schedule. After all, a good workout is supposed to lower your stress level, not increase it.

2. Hours
Is the gym open when you’ll use it most? While some gyms are open 24 hours a day, others are closed on weekends. Whether you workout early in the morning or late at night, make sure the hours fit your schedule, or you’ll be paying for something you can’t access.

3. Members
Everyone responds differently to those around them, and you should keep this in mind before you choose a gym. You should feel relaxed in your exercise environment, not embarrassed or intimidated. Some gyms are co-ed, while some are same-sex only. Others attract individuals of certain age groups. Will you be comfortable exercising around the current members? On your tour, does the gym seem overly crowded?

4. Staff
The staff members of the gym should be supportive and courteous, ready to answer questions or spot you on a machine if needed. They are there to help you make the most of your workouts. Before selecting a gym, ask about the certifications of the staff members. Are they qualified to guide you through your fitness routine? If you need a trainer, what are their rates?

5. Cleanliness
This may or may not be obvious on your first trip to the gym, so keep your eyes peeled. Make sure that towels are available to wipe off the equipment after each use. Also, look to see if staff members enforce this standard of hygiene. Peek into the locker rooms and showers, especially if you’ll be using these often. Look at the toilets, sinks, and showers themselves to see that they’re properly maintained.

6. Equipment
Take a good look around. Are there enough of the "popular" machines to go around, or do members have to wait in line to use them? Find out if there is a sign-up sheet or a time limit on cardio equipment. If you run on a treadmill for an hour, then a 30-minute time limit won’t really suit you.

Make sure that there are a wide variety of machines, but don’t be intimidated by new ones. Notice whether or not instructions and pictures are posted on the machines, or if staff is available to help you. Be cautious of out-of-order machines; this might be indicative of a poorly maintained gym.

7. Classes
Ask to see the schedule of fitness classes offered at the gym. Make sure that the classes you WANT to take are offered at the times you can attend, and find out if you need to show up early to reserve a spot. High-energy classes like spinning might interest you, or a calming yoga class might be more up your alley. If group classes are the staple of your exercise program, find out if the gym charges extra for classes before you join. Decide whether or not these fees are affordable before you join, or you might be paying for a membership that you don’t really use.

8. Fees
Cost is probably the deciding factor when choosing a gym. Many gyms have a sign-up fee, but these are often waived during certain promotions. Take a look at the payment schedule. Do you pay each month, or do you have to commit yourself to an entire year as a member? Can you cancel without penalty? And ultimately, does a gym fit into your budget?

When it comes down to joining a fitness center, you may feel like you’re signing your life away—if you aren’t informed and prepared. Be picky! Shop around, talk to friends, and take the tours until you find a place that meets all (or most) of your expectations at a reasonable price. After all, finding the right gym can be the key to a healthy lifestyle!
